Sioux Falls Young Artists and Authors Showcase
This year’s theme, “We’re Going Places,” showcases the importance of student exchange and international travel in order to achieve peace. Students ages 13-18 are encouraged to draw inspiration from personal travel experience, international friendships, or their own interpretation of how peace is achieved through exchanges and travel. The overall goal is to present their vision of where the future will lead.
Art must be two dimensional, unframed, and no larger than 24in. x 36in. No photography. Media of all other types are encouraged, including pencil, ink, paint, prints, collage, mixed media, etc.
Art that does not meet the above criteria will be ineligible and returned to the artist.
Essays and Poems
Essays are not to exceed 500 words, poetry is not to exceed 25 lines. Entries must be submitted in English Winners will be based on theme interpretation, composition, and grammar. All work must be original and inspired by the theme.
At the International level, multiple entries are allowed for sister city members and their international city partners. However, please limit five entries per classroom.
All photography must be submitted digitally in .jpg format at 300dpi. Included with the submission is your full name, photo caption (140 characters max) explaining why this fits the theme, and your current school. 10 entries are allowed per student.
Photography that does not meet the above criteria will be ineligible and returned to the artist.
